Abstract :

Abstract :
Conventional microgrids that employ droop control may experience challenges related to frequency and voltage offsets, which can pose risks to power system safety. Furthermore, the use of continuous communication in traditional control systems can result in technical and financial challenges. This paper introduces a fixed-time dynamic event-triggered secondary control for islanded microgrids, designed to achieve frequency restoration, voltage regulation and active power sharing within a specified timeframe. This distributed control approach relies solely on information from each distributed generator(DG) and its neighbours. Each DG receives communication from its neighbours and concurrently broadcasts its own information only when certain deviation were reached, thereby minimising communication costs. Several simulated instances illustrate the usefulness and robustness of this control method, including scenarios involving load changes, time delay and topology switching.

Abstract :
Underwater robots based on machine vision encounter issues such as limited computational resources and low real-time monitoring accuracy when performing submarine cable tracking. To address these challenges, we propose a lightweight submarine cable object detection algorithm, YOLOv8n-LSC. In the backbone network, the standard convolution (Conv) is replaced by the receptive field attention convolution (RFAConv), and the SENetV2 structure is introduced into the C2f module to build C2f_SENetV2, enhancing the backbone network's ability to extract global features. In the neck network, the Cross-scale Feature Fusion Module (CCFM) structure is combined with the VOV-GSCSP module, significantly reducing model parameters and computational complexity while maintaining detection accuracy. Finally, the traditional upsampling module is replaced with a Dysample to improve image processing efficiency. Experimental results show that the proposed YOLOv8n-LSC algorithm significantly improves detection accuracy and reduces the number of model parameters compared to conventional detection algorithms on the self-constructed Submarine Cable Image Dataset (SMCD). This approach effectively balances performance and lightweight design, making it well-suited for deployment in underwater target detection devices with limited computational resources. © 2025 SPIE.

Abstract :
This article focuses on the issue of reachable set estimation(RSE) with the consensus performance for multi-agent systems(MASs) under event-triggered scheme(ETS) and semi-Markov switching topologies with partially unknown rates(SMST-PUR). Firstly, through model transformation, the consensus research of MASs can be converted to the closed-loop stability analysis problem, and a periodic sampling ETS is employed to reduce the frequency of information broadcasting by the behavior of communicating with neighbors at the special moments. Secondly, the Lyapunov-Krasovskii functions(LKFs) with state information of time delay are constructed, whose goal is to capture more dynamics of time delay that impact on the controller's design. And a group of sufficient conditions in the aspect of linear matrix inequalities(LMIs) is derived to guarantee that the states of error system can be confined within a finite union of ellipsoid-like sets corresponding to each mode with consensus manifestation under the action of switching topology randomly governed by SMST-PUR. Simultaneously, the method of co-designing the consensus controller and the triggered matrices of ETS with RSE performance is depicted to save communication resources availably. Finally, a study case is utilized to verify the validity of the proposed method and the comparative results illustrate the advantages and effectiveness of the control algorithm designed in this paper.

Abstract :
With the rapid development of offshore wind power and photovoltaic power generation, the importance of marine power transmission projects is increasing and the application of submarine cables is also becoming increasingly widespread. Accurate identification of the location of submarine cables is not only beneficial for routine inspections but also enhances the efficiency of fault detection. Therefore, the routing, positioning, and fault detection of submarine cables will play a crucial role in future repair and maintenance operations. The small diameter of submarine cables and the variability of internal currents have led to a decrease in positioning accuracy and an increase in positioning difficulty. To address the aforementioned issues, this paper first derives the approximate equation for the external magnetic field of submarine cables based on the underwater environment and underwater robotics, utilizing the cable structure of three-core armored submarine cables. The underwater robotic system performs attitude adjustments based on the detected magnetic induction intensity values. Building upon this, a submarine cable positioning algorithm is proposed using an improved grey wolf optimization (IGWO) algorithm. The algorithm utilizes a fitness function based on the magnetic flux density model and incorporates an online path localization method specifically designed for submarine cable detection. Finally, the accuracy and effectiveness of the IGWO algorithm are validated through simulation experiments. © 2025 Northeast University. All rights reserved.

Abstract :
35 kV underwater cables are commonly used for the transmission of electrical energy in nearshore offshore wind farms. Investigating the loss characteristics of these cables improves in enhancing the efficiency of energy transmission. This paper presents the construction of a multi-physics coupled electromagnetic-thermal-fluid underwater cable simulation model using COMSOL software. The model aims to calculate the electromagnetic losses in each layer of the underwater cable accurately. This study examines the influences of various laying methods, seawater temperature, seawater velocity and burial depth on loss characteristics of submarine cables. The simulation results show that the electromagnetic loss of the submarine cable is spirally distributed along the cable axis. The total losses of the submarine cable increase with the increase of seawater temperature and seawater velocity. Furthermore, the losses in the shielding layer and armor layer demonstrate a decline as cable resistance surges with temperature. © 2024 IEEE.

Abstract :
The detection and positioning of underwater power transmission cables are crucial for the operation and maintenance of marine power transmission projects. Existing location solutions are primarily based on magnetic detection via electromagnetic induction, but often suffer from imperfections and a lack of experimental validation. This paper proposes an undersea cable location method that uses a twin triple-axis coil sensor. This method is more comprehensive and feasible and can accurately calculate the relative distance and angle between the detection base array and the undersea cable. After mathematical modeling, the feasibility of the method was verified through experiments. © 2024 IEEE.

Abstract :
With the application of distributed generators (DGs), microgrids (MGs) have gained much attention. Combined with the distributed communication of networked systems, we investigates the secondary restoration problem in islanded microgrids. The periodic event -triggered (PET) controllers are designed for voltage restoration and frequency restoration with accurate active power allocation, which can naturally avoid Zeno behavior. By means of a common Lyapunov function, a PET protocol is designed that requires only the information of neighbors for event detection. Both event -checking sampling period and event trigger parameter are taken into account to reduce computation and communication redundancy by choosing appropriate parameters. Furthermore, considering the effect of communication delay, sufficient conditions are given to accomplish the secondary control objectives with allowable delays. Switching topologies are considered in an extra discussion. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed PET control strategies is verified by several MATLAB simulations.

Abstract :
The secondary control plays an important role in ensuring the power quality of AC island microgrid. Since the traditional time-driven secondary control strategy will cause communication redundancy, the event-triggered mechanism has been widely studied. Under the event-triggered mechanism, the DG performs necessary communication only when its own triggering condition is met. This paper studies the problem of secondary voltage control under periodic event-triggered mechanism, which can restore the output voltage to the reference value. At the same time, considering that each DG has a different sampling and checking period, this is a more general asynchronous communication problem. In the stability analysis, the conditions of event detection period and event parameters to ensure the realization of secondary control are given. Finally, the effectiveness of the mechanism is verified by several simulations.

Abstract :
Due to the prevalence of communication link delay in communication networks, the study of communication delays in smart grids and their impact on economic dispatch is of great practical value. In this paper, a Gossip-based economic dispatch protocol perfected under constant time delay is considered, and it is proved by augmented matrix theory and matrix perturbation theory that a sufficiently small control gain parameter always exists to guarantee the convergence over a constant delay in the communication network. Iterative update rules are given when the neighboring generation units do not receive the initial state due to the time delay to ensure the optimal solution can be obtained. Finally, simulation cases are provided to verify the effectiveness and plug-and-play capability of the algorithm, as well as its feasibility for large-scale systems.
