Abstract&Keyword Cite Version(2)

Abstract :

The rapidly developing electric vehicles (EVs) calls for improvement in the charging system for the high-voltage (HV) and low-voltage (LV) batteries in EVs. In the conventional EV charger, wireless power transfer (WPT), onboard charger (OBC), and auxiliary power module (APM) are three separate structures. This article proposes an integrated charger for WPT, OBC, and APM by sharing power conversion stages with the advantages of cost effectiveness and high-power density. The transformer of OBC can be seen as two strongly coupled coils, and the secondary-side coil can be loosely coupled with the transmitting coil of the WPT system, serving as a receiving coil. A transformer can be employed on the receiving side to integrate the APM with WPT. In this way, the receiving coil, the compensation network, and the power electronics converter can be shared. The integrated structure can work in three modes. In the first mode (wireless charging mode) and the second mode (conductive charging mode), the utility delivers power to the HV and LV batteries simultaneously. In the third mode (HV-LV mode), the LV battery is charged by the HV battery through APM. An experimental prototype is implemented to validate the proposal.

Abstract :

Urban greenspaces (UGSs) are pivotal for ecological enhancement and the well-being of urban residents. The accurate quantification of greenspace exposure (GE) and its distributional equality is essential for equitable urban planning and mitigating inequalities in greenspace access. This study introduces a novel population-EVI-weighted model that integrates the Enhanced Vegetation Index (EVI), land cover, and demographic data to evaluate GE across various spatial scales and buffer distances (300 m, 500 m, and 1 km). This model provides a more nuanced representation of realistic UGSs utilization by residents than traditional metrics of greenspace coverage or simple population-weighted exposure. Our comprehensive analysis reveals that refining the spatial scale improves the understanding of GE's spatial variation and its distributional equality. Furthermore, increasing the buffer distance substantially enhances GE and its distributional equality across 20 cities and over 93% of counties within the Urban Agglomeration on the West Side of the Straits (WSS). Notably, the county level shows superior performance and greater sensitivity to buffer distance adjustments compared to the city level in the WSS. These findings underscore the importance of scale and buffer distance in urban greenspace planning to achieve equal access to greenspaces.

Abstract :

Increasing concerns about public health and safety after covid-19 have raised pathogen studies, especially in aquatic environments. However, the extent to how different location and human activities affect geographic occurrence and distribution of pathogens in response to agricultural pollution, boat tourism disturbances and municipal wastewater inflow in a degraded lake remains unclear. Since the surrounding residents depend on the lake for their livelihood, understanding the pathogens reserved in lake sediment and the regulation possibility by environmental factors are challenges with far-reaching significance. Results showed that 187 pathogens were concurrently shared by the nine sediment samples, with Salmonella enterica and Pseudomonas aeruginosa being the most abundant. The similar composition of the pathogens suggests that lake sediment may act as reservoirs of generalist pathogens which may pose infection risk to a wide range of host species. Of the four virulence factors (VFs) types analyzed, offensive VFs were dominant (>46 % on average) in all samples, with dominant subtypes including adherence, secretion systems and toxins. Notably, the lake sediments under the impact of agricultural use (g1) showed significantly higher diversity and abundance of pathogen species and VFs than those under the impact of boat tourism (g2) and/or municipal wastewater inflow with reed marshes filtration (g3). From the cooccurrence networks, pathogens and pesticides, aggregate fractions, EC, pH, phosphatase have strong correlations. Strong positive correlations between pathogens and diazinon in g1 and ppDDT in g2 and g3 suggest higher pesticide-pathogen co-exposure risk. These findings highlight the need to explore pathogen - environmental factor interaction mechanisms in the human-impacted water environments where the control of pathogen invasion by environmental factors may accessible.

Abstract :

The deterioration of the urban thermal environment has seriously affected the quality of life of urban residents, and studying the optimal cooling landscape combination and configuration based on local climate zones (LCZs) is crucial for mitigating the thermal environment. In this study, the LCZ system was combined to analyze the spatial and temporal changes to the thermal environment in the central area of Fuzhou, and the 159 blocks in the core area were selected to derive the optimal LCZ combination and configuration. The conclusions are as follows: (1) From 2013 to 2021, the building layout of the study area became more open and the building height gradually increased. The high-temperature areas were mainly clustered in the core area; (2) The LSTs for low-rise buildings (LCZ 3 (41.67 degrees C), LCZ 7 (40.10 degrees C), LCZ 8 (42.61 degrees C), and LCZ 10 (41.85 degrees C)) were higher than the LSTs for high-rise buildings (LCZ 1 (38.58 degrees C) and LCZ 4 (38.50 degrees C)); (3) The thermal contribution index for low building types was higher for dense buildings (LCZ 3 (0.4331), LCZ 8 (0.3149), and LCZ 10 (0.2325)) than for open buildings (LCZ 6 (0.0247) and LCZ 9 (0.0317)); (4) Blocks with an average LST of 36 degrees C had the most cost-effective cooling, and the combination and configuration of LCZs within such blocks were optimal. Our results can be used to better guide urban planners in managing LCZ combinations and configurations within blocks (the smallest planning unit) at an earlier phase of thermal environment design, and for appropriately adapting existing block layouts, providing a new perspective on urban thermal environment research with important implications for climate-friendly city and neighborhood planning.

Abstract :

Despite the serious health threats due to wide use of organophosphorus pesticides (OPPs) have been experimentally claimed to be remediated by probiotic microorganisms in various food and organism models, the interactions between OPPs and probiotics in the natural wetland ecosystem was rarely investigated. This study delves into the spatial and temporal distribution, contamination levels of OPPs in the Baiyangdian region, the diversity of probiotic communities in varying environmental contexts, and the potential connection with OPPs on these probiotics. In typical shallow lake wetland ecosystem-Baiyangdian lake in north China, eight OPPs were identified in the lake sediments, even though their detection rates were generally low. Malathion exhibited the highest average content among these pesticides (9.51 ng/g), followed by fenitrothion (6.70 ng/g). Conversely, chlorpyrifos had the lowest detection rate at only 2.14%. The region near Nanliu Zhuang (F10), significantly influenced by human activities, displayed the highest concentration of total OPPs (136.82 ng/g). A total of 145 probiotic species spanning 78 genera were identified in Baiyangdian sediments. Our analysis underscores the relations of environmental factors such as phosphatase activity, pH, and electrical conductivity (EC) with probiotic community. Notably, several high-abundance probiotics including Pseudomonas chlororaphis, Clostridium sp., Lactobacillus fermentum, and Pseudomonas putida, etc., which were reported to exhibit significant potential for the degradation of OPPs, showed strongly correlations with OPPs in the Baiyangdian lake sediments. The outcomes of this research offer valuable insights into the spatiotemporal dynamics of OPPs in natural large lake wetland and the probability of their in-situ residue bioremediation through the phosphatase pathway mediated by probiotic such as Lactic acid bacteria in soils/sediments contaminated with OPPs.

Study of a New Photocatalytic Film Process Combined with a Constructed Wetland and an Analysis of Reoxygenation Pathways in a Water Body SCIE SSCI

Abstract&Keyword Cite Version(1)

Abstract :

Pollution in water environments hinders both social progress and economic development. Wastewater treatment and the sustainable use of water resources are important factors in solving this problem. In a previous study, the authors proposed a process that used photocatalytic film as a back-end treatment in a composite iron-carbon constructed wetland (WIC&PF) to restore a mildly eutrophic water body. This method has strong reoxygenation effects, and can efficiently remove pollutants; these are qualities that have not been mentioned in previous studies regarding constructed wetlands. In this study, the authors further investigated the effectiveness of this process by using a photocatalytic film as a front-end treatment for a composite iron-carbon constructed wetland (PF&WIC) to restore a mildly eutrophic water body. The results showed NH4+-N, TN, TP, COD, and chlorophyll a removal rates using PF&WIC of 79.1 +/- 6.6%, 76.8 +/- 6.5%, 77.0 +/- 5.4%, 77.3 +/- 7.2%, and 91.7 +/- 5.6%, respectively. The DO concentration of the water body increased compared with that of the effluent. The bacterial species and their abundance in the lake water also changed significantly, and photosynthetic autotrophic bacteria (Cyanobium PCC-6307) became the most dominant bacteria, and this played an important role in reoxygenating the water body. In comparing these results to those of our previous study, the removal of pollutants with PF&WIC was close to that with WIC&PF, but the reoxygenation effect of PF&WIC on the water body was significantly worse than that of WIC & PF; thus, WIC&PF is the more reasonable choice for treating eutrophic water bodies.

Abstract :

Deposition of excessive phosphate in natural water column caused several issues, like the eutrophication and destruction of aquatic ecosystems. Adsorption has been an effective and convenient method for phosphate elimination. Herein, a novel bimetallic metal-organic framework adsorbent, namely, La-Zr-MOF, was prepared, and the morphology, crystallite, characteristic functional groups, specific surface area, and composite material surfaces were analyzed using XRD, FT-IR, SEM-EDS, and BET. The adsorption performance of the adsorbent was systematically evaluated by batch adsorption experiments, and the adsorption thermodynamic and kinetic properties were analyzed. The results reveal that La-Zr-MOF exhibits a high selectivity and sorption performance for phosphate, and the adsorption of La-Zr-MOF follows the Langmuir and pseudo-second-order models; the phosphate removal procedure is a chemisorption accompanied by an endothermic reaction, and the maximum capacity was 127.7 mg g-1. Combined with batch adsorption experiments, kinetic and thermodynamic studies and various characterization analyses together revealed the phosphate removal mechanism, mainly ligand exchange and electrostatic interactions.

Accumulation and ecological risk assessment of diazinon in surface sediments of Baiyangdian lake and its potential impact on probiotics and pathogens SCIE
期刊论文 | 2024 , 357 | ENVIRONMENTAL POLLUTION
Abstract&Keyword Cite Version(2)

Abstract :

Diazinon is an organophosphorus pesticide widely used in agriculture and household pest control, and its use also poses several environmental and health hazards. In this study, we investigated the spatial and temporal distribution of diazinon in Baiyangdian, evaluated its potential ecological risk and toxicity to aquatic organisms based on RQ (Risk quotient) and TU (Toxic unit) analysis, and assessed the potential effects of diazinon accumulation on probiotics and pathogens based on statistical analysis of high-throughput sequencing data. The results showed that diazinon in Baiyangdian posed a low to moderate chronic risk to sediment-dwelling organisms and a low toxicity effect on aquatic invertebrates, which was mainly concentrated in October and human-intensive areas. Meanwhile, increases in sediment electrical conductivity (EC), amorphous iron oxides content and phenol oxidase activity favored diazinon accumulation in sediments, whereas the opposite was the case for sediment organic carbon, beta-1,4-glucosidase, phosphatase, catalase and pH, suggesting that environmental indicators play a key role in the behavior and distribution of diazinon. In addition, diazinon in heavily contaminated areas seem to inhibit the rare probiotics (Bifidobacterium adolescentis and Serratia sp.), while promoted dominant pathogens (e. g., Burkholderia cenocepacia), which can lead to increased disease risk to humans and ecosystems, disruption of ecological balance and potential health problems. However, probiotic Streptomyces xiamenensis resist to diazinon would be a potential degrader for diazinon remove. In conclusion, this study unveiled the effects of diazinon pollution on wetland ecosystems, emphasizing ecological impacts and potential health concerns. In addition, the discovery of diazinon resistant probiotics provided new insights into wetland ecological restoration.
