Coupling characteristic of column-type six-component force/ moment transducers SCIE
期刊论文 | 2025 , 242 | MEASUREMENT
Abstract&Keyword Cite Version(2)

Abstract :

This study investigated the static coupling characteristics of a column-type six-component force/moment transducer. An output model of the transducer was developed and validated through finite element method (FEM) simulations. Length-to-diameter ratio (RLD), deflection angles of strain gauge, and multi-component loads were analysed in relation to transducer coupling. Six transducers with different RLDs and strain gauge deflection angles were tested under single and multi-component loads. It was found that the coupling of Fz under Fx or Fy was pronounced when RLD was small. The coupling of Fz under Fx increased from less than 5 % to 34 % when RLD decreased from 3.5 to 2.0. However, couplings of other components under Fz were not sensitive to RLD. The strain gauge deflection angles had the largest effect on the coupling of the Fz component, its coupling increased from 2.5 % to over 17.5% under Mx as the deflection angle increased from 0 degrees to 6 degrees. However, couplings of other components caused by Fz were not sensitive to strain gauge deflection angle. The couplings under multicomponent loads were found to approximate the superposition of those under single-component loads, with deviations within 2 %, indicating good linearity and easy decoupling of the transducer.

Novel rotational speed measuring method based on micro-indentation-shaft detected by optical coherent system SCIE
期刊论文 | 2025 , 184 | OPTICS AND LASERS IN ENGINEERING
Abstract&Keyword Cite Version(2)

Abstract :

Accurate rotational speed measurement is a prerequisite for realizing the condition monitoring and fault diagnosis of rotating equipment. This study proposes a novel rotational speed measurement method based on optical coherent displacement measurement. An optical coherence system is used to measure the relative depth of the shaft surface with uniformly etched micro-indentations on the circumferential surface. Fast Fourier transform (FFT) and the Hanning window energy centrobaric method (HnWECM) are used to process the collected photoelectric signals to obtain depth information and thereby realize the measurement of surface microindentations. During the operation, the rotational speed of the shaft is obtained by calculating the ratio of the angular difference between the relative depth of the rectangular pulses of the surface and the time interval. The experimental validation of the response is performed. The experimental results show that in the range of 0 rpm to 60 rpm, the indication error is <1 %, the nonlinearity error is <0.3584 %, and the repeatability error is <0.28 %. In the range of 0 rpm to 600 rpm, the rotational speed measurement method performed well with an indication error of <0.5 %, a maximum nonlinear error of 0.22 %, and a repeatability error of no >0.28 %. Compared with the results reported in existing literature, the proposed method offers advantages in terms of accuracy, linearity, and repeatability.

Modeling of an inductive displacement sensor based on 1DCNN-LSTM-AT SCIE
期刊论文 | 2025 , 36 (1) | MEASUREMENT SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY
Abstract&Keyword Cite Version(2)

Abstract :

The input-output relationship of inductive displacement sensors is typically nonlinear, which demands numerous computational resources for precise calculation. Therefore, the traditional analytical methods for the inductive displacement sensors cannot meet the real-time high-precision measurement requirements. In response to the aforementioned issues, this paper proposes an optimized Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) neural networks based on one-dimensional convolutional neural networks (1DCNN) to modeling the input-output relationship of the inductive displacement sensor. First, the measurement principle of the inductive displacement sensors was analyzed, and the analytical model of the sensor output was derived. And the influences of the key parameters of sensors on the relationship between the induced voltage and the displacement were studied. Then, the 1DCNN-LSTM-AT network for modelling the input-output relationship of the inductive displacement sensor was studied. The spatial features of historical induced electromotive force (EMF) data generated by the induction coil were initially extracted using the 1DCNN network. And these spatial features were then utilized as input to the LSTM neural network to capture the temporal features of the historical induced EMF data. Subsequently, the spatiotemporal features of the induced EMF data were fed into the regression prediction layer to compute the displacement measurement results corresponding to the current input. Moreover, the attention mechanism was used for the 1DCNN-LSTM model to enhance the prediction accuracy and stability of the model. Finally, the experimental results demonstrate that the proposed 1DCNN-LSTM-AT model achieves an average absolute percentage error (MAPE) of 3.1%, significantly outperforming traditional models such as LSTM (29.3%), CNN (4.7%), and ANN (4.3%). This paper provides a new method for modelling the nonlinear relationships of the inductive displacement sensor, and presents a fresh perspective for research in the data processing of nonlinear sensors.

Abstract :

In response to the high-precision and multi-dimensional force measurement requirements in the fields of biology and medicine, this paper proposes a novel three-dimensional microforce measurement method based on the broadband optical coherence. A novel, compact, and low-coupling elastic element was designed, with a maximum outer diameter of 26 mm and a capacity of 50 g in the X-, Y-, and Z-directions, respectively. The functional relationship between the displacements of the three detecting points on the elastic element and the applied external force was derived based on the elastic mechanics theory. And it was also verified by the finite element method. A self-built optics system was set up to sense the displacements of the three points on the elastic element. The experiments results showed that the resolution in the X-, Y-, and Z-directions was 0.10 mN, 0.11 mN and 0.13 mN, respectively. In the measuring range of (10-50) g, the maximum coupling rate was 4.55 %, and the maximum linear error was 4.70 %. The maximum repeatability error was only 0.615 %. The method and sensor were verified with good characteristics of high resolution, low coupling rate, high linearity and high accuracy, comparing to other reported researches. The multi-dimensional force measuring method could be used in the fields of biology and medicine.

Modeling of a six-degree-of-freedom magnetic levitation platform actuated by noncontact Lorentz forces SCIE
期刊论文 | 2024 | JOURNAL OF VIBRATION AND CONTROL
Abstract&Keyword Cite Version(1)

Abstract :

In this study, the modeling of a six-degree-of-freedom (DOF) magnetic levitation platform actuated by noncontact Lorentz forces was analyzed. First, an analytic model of the actuator forces was studied, and the magnetic flux density in the working gap of the actuators was established using the Image Method, Ampere molecular hypothesis, and Biot-Savart law. The dynamics model of the floater actuated by the actuators was then built using the Newton-Euler method. Moreover, the double-pendulum chaotic nonlinear system of the hoisted floater was simplified as a single-DOF system, in which the interaction effects between two DOFs were considered. Furthermore, modeling of the platform control system was performed, which included an acceleration measuring unit with six uniaxial accelerometers, a position measuring unit with three two-dimensional PSDs, and a control unit that decouples the six-DOF control. Finally, an experimental setup was built to perform ground tests on the platform. The results verified the platform modeling; translational and rotational positioning accuracies were approximately 5 mu m and 40 mu rad at the six DOFs, respectively, and the vibrational suppression efficiencies were greater than 90% for low frequency disturbances. Moreover, Kalman estimators and disturbance observers were introduced into the controller to estimate the movement of the floater and observe the direct disturbance. Simulation testing demonstrated a significant improvement in the vibration-suppression performance of the platform.

Multi-feature fusion-based TCA-WKNN cross-sensor fault diagnosis method for dynamic weighing SCIE

Abstract&Keyword Cite Version(3)

Abstract :

The outstanding performance of current machine-learning fault diagnosis methods is mainly attributed to the availability of a large amount of labeled training data. However, in practical dynamic weighing systems, the high costs and variability of operating conditions limit the availability of reliable training data, hampering engineering fault diagnoses in dynamic weighing systems. To address this issue, this study proposes a novel cross-sensor fault diagnosis method based on multi-feature fusion using a transfer component analysis (TCA)-weighted k-nearest-neighbor (WKNN) network. Using this method, time- and frequency-domain features are extracted from a laboratory-simulated set of fault data with small batches of real operational data. Source and target domain features are fused, and TCA is applied to map the source and target domain samples to a latent space using kernel functions to reduce the distribution differences among the samples. Finally, the WKNN is employed as a metric learner to enhance small-sample data matching and classification to improve diagnostic accuracy. The results show that with three samples per support set, the proposed method achieves a diagnostic accuracy of 93.33%. Compared with other approaches, the proposed method exhibits stronger generalizability for diagnostic knowledge transference from sensor to dynamic weighing failure data, effectively improving precision in on-site small-sample environments and reducing sample imbalances.

Abstract :

With the continuous development of computer technology, deep learning has been widely used in fault diagnosis and achieved remarkable results. However, in actual production, the problem of insufficient fault samples and the difference in data domains caused by different working conditions seriously limit the improvement of model diagnosis ability. In recent years, meta-learning has attracted widespread attention from scholars as one of the main methods of few-shot learning. It can quickly adapt to new tasks by training on a small number of samples. A fine-tuning prototypical network is proposed on meta-learning methods to address the challenges of fault diagnosis under few-shot and cross-domain. Firstly, the shuffle attention is used to enhance the feature extraction ability of the network and suppress irrelevant features. Then, the support set of the target domain is split into two parts: pseudo support set and pseudo query set, which are used to fine-tune the prototypical network and improve the model generalization. Finally, experiments are conducted on three rotating equipment datasets to verify the method's effectiveness.
