Abstract :
Diffusion dialysis (DD) presents a highly promising and cost-efficient approach for acid recovery, yet its performance is often hindered by the acid permeability of anion exchange membranes (AEMs). To address this challenge, a one-step approach has been developed to fabricate porous AEMs. Using brominated polyphenylene oxide (BPPO) as the porous base membrane, imidazole is employed for in-situ crosslinking and cationization. This approach not only retains the inherent porosity (>63.5 %) of the base membrane but also achieves an exceptionally thin selective layer (<0.3 mu m), thereby creating abundant free space volume. Through a concurrent enhancement of ion transport sites and crosslinking density, the membrane effectively breaks acid permeability-selectivity trade-off. The optimal IPPO-20h AEM demonstrates a remarkable increase in both the acid dialysis coefficient (U-H+ = 34.1 x 10(-3) m/h) and separation factor (S-H+/(Fe)2+ = 573.8) in the HCl/FeCl2 system, with enhancements of 4- and 31-fold, respectively, compared to the commercial DF120 AEM, at 25 degrees C. This high-performance AEM, synthesized via a straightforward and mild process, offers significant potential for large-scale acid recovery applications.

Herein, we present the synthesis and characterization of a novel phosphorus-containing epoxy co-curing agent, ANVD, fabricated via a one-pot method utilizing vanillin, 1,5-diaminonaphthalene, and DOPO as raw materials. Structural analysis conducted through FTIR and NMR spectroscopy confirmed the composition of ANVD. Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) results indicated ANVD has significant contribution to the curing crosslinking of DGEBA, resulting in a slightly decreased Tg value for EP/ANVD compared to EP/DOPO, albeit still notably higher. Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) revealed a reduction in the T5% and Tmax values of EP/ANVD, yet ANVD's superior char-forming ability increased char residue mass at elevated temperatures. Combustion tests showcased the outstanding flame retardancy of EP/ANVD, with EP/ANVD-5 exhibiting a limiting oxygen index (LOI) value of 33.2 % and achieving a V-0 rating in the UL-94 test. Furthermore, EP/ANVD-5 displayed a notable decrease of 38.6 % and 32.1 % in pHRR and av-HRR, respectively, compared to pure EP, surpassing EP/DOPO with equivalent phosphorus content. Analysis of decomposition products in both condensed and gas phases revealed ANVD's role in forming dense and continuous expanded char layers during combustion, releasing phosphorus radicals and non-combustible gases, thus exhibiting dual-phase flame retardant effects. Additionally, EP/ANVD-3 exhibited enhanced mechanical properties, with tensile strength and modulus increasing from 68.5 MPa and 0.75 GPa to 76.5 MPa and 0.86 GPa, respectively, compared to pure EP. Overall, the introduction of the bio-based flame retardant ANVD presents promising opportunities for the utilization of bio-based materials in flame retardancy applications.

Oil/water separation of emulsion stands as one of the most arduous and challenging aspects in oily wastewater treatment which represents a perennial trouble for humanity. Herein, positively charged hydrophobic polymer foams (PCHPFs) were fabricated by water-in-oil (W/O) high internal phase emulsion (HIPE) polymerization followed by quaternization, employing 4-vinylbenzyl chloride (VBC) and 4-tert-butylstyrene (tBS) as the comonomers. The quaternization degree of PCHPFs which can be adjusted by varying the VBC/tBS ratio has an important influence on the emulsion separation performance based on the charge demulsification mechanism. The porous morphologies of PCHPFs were revealed by SEM. The successful fabrication of PCHPFs was confirmed by FTIR and XPS. As VBC/tBS ratio increased from 0.5:1-5:1, the emulsion separation efficiency of PCHPFs first increased to a maximum of 95.9 % at 2:1 and then decreased. Additionally, the PCHPFs demonstrated robust hydrophobicity (water contact angles > 143 degrees), exceptional oil-water selectivity, remarkable oil-water separation capability, coupled with a certain absorption capacity for various oils and organic solvents (5-14 g/g). Given these advantages, PCHPFs are anticipated to emerge as an ideal solution for emulsion separation. Most importantly, the methodology for generating PCHPFs via quaternization in this research offers an innovative avenue in the design of charge demulsification materials.

Rosin, a renewable and abundant resource, has been extensively processed and chemically modified to endow it with special properties, especially in the surfactant industry. In this study, four rosin-based quaternary ammonium asymmetric gemini surfactants (RGS-2-n) with different alkyl chain lengths (n = 12, 14, 16, 18) were synthesized using a simple two-step method based on dehydroabietylamine as the raw material. The feasibility of these surfactants for cleaning purposes was comprehensively evaluated, suggesting that the surfactants own high surface activity and good cleaning performance. Furthermore, by successfully introducing the amine group of dehydroabietylamine into the hydrophilic group of the surfactants, we avoided its potential harm to the environment and water pollution. Density functional theory proves rosin-based gemini surfactants with asymmetric structure can further improve cleaning efficiency. Overall, our findings suggests that RGS-2-n surfactants are promising and sustainable candidates for cleaning electric plates, and provide new opportunities for rosin application in the electric industry. © 2024 The Chemical Industry and Engineering Society of China, and Chemical Industry Press Co., Ltd

UV-curing low dielectric materials exhibit wide applications in the field of additive manufacturing of electronic packaging, owing to their environmental protection, good thermal stability, low dielectric constant (D-k), and dielectric loss (D-f). Wherein, one-step UV curing realizes process simplification of low dielectric materials gradually sparked widespread research. In this work, a series of novel naphthalene-based low dielectric materials were prepared for one-step UV curing. The double bond conversion rate of resins exceeds 90 % in a short time and the resins perform exceptional dielectric properties (D-k < 2.8, D-f < 0.009, 110 MHz), high thermal stability (T-5% > 270 degrees C), and hydrophobicity (water contact angle > 95 degrees). Notably, 1,6-naphthalene dimethacrylate/Trihydroxymethylbutyl trimethylacrylate (1,6-NEA/TMPTA) suggests lowest dielectric performance (D-k = 2.19, D-f = 0.005) with significant thermal stability (T-g = 190 degrees C, T-5% = 367.4 degrees C) because the pi-pi conjugation of the asymmetric structure of 1,6-NEA, which allows for a greater variety of stacking patterns and increases the effective collisions between the reactive sites of the photosensitive monomer and the reactive diluent. This work has revealed the structure-activity relationship between the substituents on naphthalene derivatives and their photochemical properties, providing a novel methodology for the development of low dielectric electronic packaging materials through additive manufacturing techniques.

Abstract :
It is a great challenge to develop thermal interface materials that enable fast heat transfer between the surface of microelectronic materials and heat sinks. In this paper, multi-walled carbon nanotube/epoxy composites (EPNH2-x) were synthesized by amidation reaction using aminated epoxy resin as matrix and carboxylated multiwalled carbon nanotubes. EP-NH2-x can reduce the interfacial thermal resistance and the promotion of phonon conduction through the chemical bonding connection between the resin and the carbon nanotubes, which will in turn improve the thermal conductivity of the composites. The thermal conductivity of EP-NH2-10 reaches 0.531 W & sdot;m- 1 & sdot;K- 1 at a and has good variable temperature cycling stability, internal elasticity and surface adhesion. This work highlights the potential application of carbon materials to improve the thermal conductivity of epoxy resins.

针对苯到苯酚制备过程选择性低的问题,介绍了新型探索性实验设计,引导学生以光催化苯制苯酚作为研究对象,通过溶胶-凝胶法制备FeOOH还原氧化石墨烯复合气凝胶,并探究其在光催化苯羟基化制苯酚中的性能。本实验以实现温和条件下提高苯制苯酚选择性为目标,对于培养学生创新思维、提高创新能力与实践能力具有积极的作用。

Electronic-grade isopropyl alcohol is widely utilized in the cleaning of semiconductors and microelectronic components. Removing ions like Pb2+ is crucial since the presence of impurities may cause degradation of electronics, increased failure rates, and short circuits. Membrane materials offer a number of advantages in the field of adsorption separation; however, the lack of adsorption sites results in limited adsorption capacity. In the current work, guanidino-grafted NH2-MIL-101(Fe) was incorporated into polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) to prepare MOF/PVDF mixed matrix membranes (NM/PVDF) for the removal of Pb2+ from isopropanol. Benefiting from the larger specific surface area and more lone electron pairs in the guanidine group, the Pb2+ adsorption capacity of the as-prepared NM/PVDF membrane was 29.4458 mg/g, which was higher than that of the NH2-MIL-101(Fe)/PVDF membrane (20.9306 mg/g) and the pure PVDF membrane (6.7324 mg/g). The NM/PVDF membrane was able to reduce the concentration of Pb2+ from 500 to 86.73 ppb. This work highlights the potential of guanidine-grafted Fe-based MOFs/PVDF membranes as adsorbents for acquisition of electronic-grade solvents.
