Abstract:

Elastic cable for damping device is used widely in the medium-span cable-stayed bridge for its simple structure and low-cost. In order to study the elastic cable stiffness estimation method for long-span cable-stayed bridges, this paper firstly estimates the optimal stiffness of the elastic cable of a large-span cable-stayed bridge by the simplified formula commonly used for medium-span cable-stayed bridges, and then uses the response spectrum analysis method to determine the elastic cable. The analysis of the optimal stiffness values shows that the simplified method for estimating the optimal stiffness of elastic cables is also applicable to long-span cable-stayed bridges.
