Abstract:
With growing interest in broadband wireless communication systems, a research platform for evaluating various communication schemes becomes essential in both educational and industrial environment. Such a system platform can be used to validate the assumptions and results of various theoretical and simulation-based studies. In this paper we discuss the design and development schemes for OFDM wireless platform, describe the real-time scheme and non-real-time scheme. Using USB 2.0 interface and SDRAM memory technology, a flexible and scalable system platform that enables software defined implementations of OFDM communication system is presented. Combining the flexibility of non-real-time software with ample and detailed control over hardware operation makes the platform ideal for research and development in several fields.
