Abstract:
To investigate the confining mechanism of concrete columns confined by CFRP-PVC tubes, a finite element model was developed by the software packet ABAQUS. Numerical calculation was carried out for several stubs under various eccentricity ratios and a good agreement is obtained between the analytical values and the experimental results. Based on the numerical model, the force-deformation process of the concrete columns confined by CFRP-PVC tubes under eccentric loads were analyzed, and the comparative member without CFRP wrapped outside was analyzed simultaneously. Finally, the confining mechanism of this type of composite member was put forward. The results show that the developed numerical model is effective in simulating analysis and reflecting the confining mechanism.
