Abstract:

Nanometer 70 mol%RuO2-30mol%SiO2 powders were synthesized by sol-gel method using tetraethylorthosilicate(TEOS)and citrate-gel method using RuCl3. The structure of the powders were characterized by means of FT-IR, DTA-TG, XRD, TEM and BET method. It is shown that the size of the powder particles is about 10 nm.Amorphous SiO2 exists in the range of experimental temperature. Only crystalline Ru metal exists in the powders calcined at 200 and 400°C. 90vol%Ru is oxidated into RuO2 with has the same size as Ru for the powders calcined at 600 °C. The powders calcained at 400 °C present superior thermal properties. The phases of the powders can be effectively controlled by adding SiO2, and it is favorable for the preparation of Ti anodes.
