Abstract:
In order to clearly realize the state-of-the-art of novel composite structure confined by FRP, this paper summarizes the research status on some new types of hybrid columns confined by on FRP, with emphasis on FRP-confined concrete-filled steel tubes, FRP-confined concrete columns, hybrid FRP-concrete-steel double skin tubular columns and FRP-confined concrete-filled PVC tubular columns. The core problems and trends in the future are also presented finally. The study shows that the new hybrid structure has many virtues such as predominant mechanical index and advanced economic index.
