Abstract:
Starch, prepared by heating starch suspension at 85°C, and tetraethoxysilane (TEOS) have been allowed for a sol-gel reaction to prepare starch-SiO2hybrids gel. The SiC was synthesized via carbothermal reduction of dried starch-SiO2hybrids gel. Dried starch-SiO2hybrids gel and as-prepared products were characterized by TGA, XRD, SEM and low temperature N2adsorption-desorption measurement. The results showed that high crystalline β-SiC with average crystalline size of 50 nm could be synthesized at 950°C under dynamic vacuum condition.
