Abstract:
There is a potential of using SCC (Self Compacting Concrete)-filled tubes as columns in structures. This paper presents the initial stage of an investigation of SCC-filled steel tubes at elevated temperatures. It aims at simulating the temperature distribution in SCC columns. Numerical procedures for simulating temperature fields in CFST (Concrete Filled Steel Tubes) columns are adopted in this paper with modified boundary conditions. A sensitivity study is carried out to investigate the effect of thermal properties on the member temperature distribution. The simulated temperature field in SCC columns is compared with experimental results. Future research is also pointed out. © Institute of Materials Engineering Australasia Ltd 2005.
