Abstract:

A method has been developed for the determination of niobium based on its fluo-rescence quenching effect on rhodamine B (RB)-7-iodo-8-hydroxyquinoline-5-sulfonic acid (H2QSI)-CTMAB due to the formation of Nb ( V )-RB-H2QSI-CTMAB complex. The linear range of this method is 0. 005∼0. 12mg/L for Nb2O5, the detection limit is 0. 3 μg/L and the precision is1. 5%. The method is of high sensitivity and good selectivity. It has been applied to the determination of Nb in alloy and iron ore in the presence of masking agents with good results.
