Abstract:

This paper focused on the develop trend of reliability index of members considering the uncertain factors in future service period, and in the effort to predict lifetime of H-shaped steel beam with corrosion. This paper proposed a method that uses Monte Carlo method and Weibull model to calculate the reliability prognosis of H-shaped steel beam with corrosion on existing test data and research results. More specifically, the Monte Carlo method was firstly used to calculate the reliability of corroded H-shaped steel beam in different corrosion time; simultaneously, Weibull model was utilized to fit the forecast curve of reliability; the proposed forecast curve was then used to predict lifetime of H-shaped steel beam based on the set structural reliability; finally, a numerical example was conducted to verify the effectiveness of the proposed method. The results showed that: Weibull model was able to effectively simulate and predict the reliability index of corroded H-shaped steel beam; according to the reliability index attenuation model of corroded H-shaped steel beam, the lifetime of H-shaped steel beam with corrosion in this paper was 27.18 year. Consequently, the proposed method can predict the lifetime of H-shaped steel beam with corrosion, therefore the feasibility and effectiveness of this proposed method was proved. © 2016, Editorial Office of Journal of Shenyang Jianzhu University (Natural Science).
