Abstract:

Structurally stable, multifunctional ion-copolymer composites with enhanced ionic, hydrophilic and hydrophobic properties are developed utilizing multimodal materials. These hyperbranched polymeric composites function as strong supports in multifunctional applications. The integration of zwitterionic block copolymers of deep eutectic solvent (ZDES) and deposited magnetic nanospheres (Fe3O4@PCL-ZDES) promotes the formation of a multiple interaction platform. Ion-copolymer composites are formed via non-covalent immobilization using citric acid and choline chloride as hydrogen donors and acceptors, affording numerous amphipathic zwitterionic composites. The ion-copolymer composite exhibits outstanding selectivity for glycoprotein in the presence of diverse proteins, which is comparable to those of majority hydrophilic chromatographic materials. Furthermore, these zwitterionic magnetic nanospheres preserve their highly selective characteristics towards immunoglobulin, as evidenced by their enhanced hydrophilic-hydrophobic properties. This paper presents typical amphipathic nanospheres, as well as the increased potential of zwitterionic block copolymers as smart separation materials for glycoproteins in complex biological samples. © the Partner Organisations.
