Abstract:

The rise of antibiotic resistance and the formation of biofilms by certain clinical pathogens pose severe challenges for patients with chronic and non-healing wounds. To mitigate the overuse of antibiotics and reduce the incidence of multi drug-resistant Organism (MDRO) infection, researchers have developed a metal-loaded nanomaterial as an alternative to traditional treatments. In this study, Fe-Ga doped mesoporous silicon nanomaterials (Fe-Ga@SiO2) for MDRO infection treatment and wound healing. This material induces various physiological reactions, including the production of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and the attachment and breakdown of bacteria during wound healing. Additionally, Fe-Ga@SiO2 decreases bacterial growth on mouse skin, promotes collagen deposition, and accelerates the healing of bacterial infections. Our research offers a straightforward yet effective approach for designing nanometal particles for antimicrobial therapy, spraying the material on the infected wounds inhibits bacterial growth, effectively alleviates wound sensation, and promotes healing within two weeks.
