Abstract:

The technology of combining waveguides and collimation provides more optimization space for near-eye display systems. It not only enhances display performance (such as brightness, clarity, eye box range, etc.), but also enables a more compact and efficient design. This combination has become one of the most important technologies in VR and AR devices, continuously driving innovation in display technology. Experimental results show that 80% of the collimated light is concentrated within a±10° range, and the waveguide greatly increases the eyebox range while maintaining over 75% global uniformity. © 2025, John Wiley and Sons Inc.
