Abstract:
A copper-mediated synthesis of alpha-trifluoromethylselenolated esters was developed. Trifluoromethylselenolation of the aromatic and aliphatic alpha-diazo esters with [(bpy)Cu(SeCF3)](2) afforded alpha-trifluoromethylselenolated esters in good to excellent yields. Various important functional groups were tolerated in the ortho, meta, and para positions of the phenyl rings.
