Arch bridges are one of the main type bridges in China. Great developments of arch bridges have been taking place since 1990. New Danhe Bridge, located in Shanxi Province, is a stone bridge with the largest span of 146m in the world. The Lu Pu Bridge in Shanghai opened to traffic on June 28, 2003, with a main span of 550m, over crossing the Huangpu River, is the longest span of arch bridge in the world. Many RC arch bridges have been built in China, in which the Wanxian Yangtze River Bridge is the largest span concrete arch bridge in the world. It is a RC arch bridge with a clear span of 420m and deck width of 24m, completed in 1997. Concrete filled steel tubular (CFST) arch bridges have been building in China since 1990 in China, more than 200 of such bridges have been built or under construction, in which 16 of them have a span more than 250m. The Wu-shan Yangtze River Bridge with a clear span of 460m is the largest span CFST arch bridge in China. New development of arch bridges in China will be introduced with some typical bridges.
