Abstract:

Five Concrete Filled Steel Tubular (CFST) laced columns and two steel tube laced columns subjected to eccentrically loads were tested with of eccentricities. Test results indicate that the ultimate load carrying capability of laced columns decreases with the increase of eccentricity. Longitudinal elements in the loading side of all specimens are subjected to eccentrically forces with small eccentricity during the whole process, while those away from the load are subjected to forces from small eccentricity to large eccentricity with the increase of whole eccentricity of the columns. The ultimate load-carrying capacity, stiffness and deformation capability of CFST specimens are all larger than those of hollow steel tubes. The influence of eccentricity to ultimate load-carrying capacity of CFST laced columns is analyzed. Finally, calculation methods in design criteria for CFST structures are discussed.
