Abstract:

Organic-inorganic hybrid semiconductors have good prospects in photocatalysis for the enhanced light absorption and photo-generated charges separation. Organic semiconductor tetrathiafulvalene (TTF) shows excellent optical and electrical properties, widely studied in photoelectric materials and devices. Herein, TTF modified ZnS with four different morphologies were obtained, and the effect of morphology for the photo-catalytic H2 evolution performance was explored. The photocatalytic performance is superior when 2 wt% TTF is combined with 98 wt% ZnS spheres, exhibiting the best photocatalytic hydrogen production capability, reaching 4221 mu mol g-1 h-1.The tight contact and interaction between TTF and ZnS facilitate the transport of photo-generated carriers and minimized the recombination of hole-electron pairs, thereby enhancing the photo-catalytic performance. This work demonstrates that the tight interface connection between organic and inorganic components is a key to constructing high performance semiconductor photocatalysts for hydrogen production.
