Abstract:
As an emerging environmental pollutant, nanoplastics are small in size and easy to enter organisms through biological barriers, causing potential harm to human health. Polystyrene nanoparticles (PSNPs) as a typical representative, are widely used in the toxicological research of nanoplastics. However, due to the lack of traceable properties, research progress on the behavior of PSNPs in vivo has been slow. Therefore,a kind of PSNPs with long after glow nanoparticles was designed and synthesized. The PSNPs consist of near-infrared long afterglow nanomaterials Zn1.3Ga1.4Sn0.3O4:Cr3+,Y3+ (ZGS) as the core and PS as the shell, forming a core-shell structure ZGS@PS. The synthesized PSNPs have good dispersion and regular spherical morphology, and produce excellent near-infrared long afterglow emission at 700 nm after excitation by red LED. The in vivo imaging results show that PSNPs can be traced in mice for a long time by means of near-infrared long afterglow generated by PSNPs,which provides a good tracing tool for the study of PSNPs in vivo behavior. © 2025 Editorial Office of Chinese Rare Earths.
