Abstract:

A RuOx-modified V2O5-WO3-TiO2 (VWT) mixed oxide catalyst was prepared by co-impregnation, which exhibited excellent SO2 and H2O(g) tolerance under low-temperature conditions. The enhancement of water and sulfur poisoning resistance by RuOx doping to VWT catalytic materials was examined under low-temperature environments using multiple characterization techniques. Experimental results indicated that RuOx substantially enhanced the low-temperature performance of VWT catalysts against water-sulfur poisoning, inhibited the sulfation of the carrier as well as the active V species, enhanced the adsorption and activation capacity of oxygen, and alleviated the competing adsorption relationship among NH3 and NO and H2O(g) + SO2. In addition, in situ infrared spectroscopy revealed that RuOx generates sacrificial adsorption sites on the catalyst surface, thereby preventing active site sulfation and preserving the operation of the Langmuir-Hinshelwood mechanism at low temperature. © 2025
